How much does Twitch pay streamers in 2026?

How much does Twitch pay? It pays streamers from three main sources (subscriptions, Bits and ads), not a rate per view. Here's what Twitch pays per sub, per Bit and for ads in 2026, how Partner Plus (now the Plus Program) raises your share to 70%, what it takes to get paid at all, when the money arrives, a worked example, and how clips bring new viewers to the stream.

In short

  • Subs: you get 50% of a sub's net revenue, about $3.00 of a $5.99 Tier 1 sub in the US before taxes and fees, and 60% or 70% through the Plus Program. Prices vary by country. A Prime sub pays a fixed $2.25 in the US.
  • Bits: Twitch pays 1 cent per Bit used to Cheer, so 100 Bits are $1. Ads: 55% of net ad revenue if you run at least 3 minutes of ads an hour. Twitch publishes no ad rate.
  • Anyone can turn on subs and Bits now, but only Affiliates and Partners get paid out. Affiliate takes 25 followers, 4 hours on 4 days and 3 average viewers in 30 days.
  • Twitch pays monthly, from the 15th of the next month, once you're owed $50. Earnings grow with viewers, and clips on TikTok and Shorts put a stream in front of people who don't follow it yet.

How much does Twitch pay streamers?

Twitch doesn't pay a set amount per view, per follower or per hour streamed. It pays streamers who are monetized a share of what their viewers and advertisers spend on their channel:

  • Subscriptions: 50% of a sub's net revenue as standard, 60% or 70% in the Plus Program. A Prime sub pays a fixed rate by country instead.
  • Bits: 1 cent for every Bit a viewer uses to Cheer in your chat.
  • Ads: 55% of the net revenue from ads on your stream, if you run at least 3 minutes of them an hour.
  • Sponsorships: brand campaigns Twitch arranges, open to Partners and, since August 20, 2026, to Affiliates who are Creator Sponsorship Certified.

“Net revenue” matters. Twitch splits a sub after taking out taxes, payment processing fees and currency conversion, so your share of a sub is a little less than half its price. Twitch doesn't publish what streamers earn on average. What it has said is that it paid streamers over $1 billion in 2022 and again in 2023, and in January 2024 that over a million streamers earn money on Twitch every month.

How much does Twitch pay per sub?

Twitch sets sub prices, not the streamer. A Tier 1 sub costs $5.99 on the web in the US; at Twitch's US checkout Tier 2 is $9.99 and Tier 3 $24.99. In other countries, Twitch adjusts all three tiers to the local cost of living, and its own earnings page says a sub “can cost less than $1”. Your share stays the same percentage of a cheaper price. Here's what a US sub on the web pays you, before the taxes and fees Twitch takes out before the split:

What a US sub on the web pays the streamer, by tier and revenue share, before taxes and fees
SubUS priceAt 50%At 60%At 70%
Tier 1$5.99$3.00$3.59$4.19
Tier 2$9.99$5.00$5.99$6.99
Tier 3$24.99$12.50$14.99$17.49
Prime subFree with Prime$2.25 fixedNot in the Plus ProgramNot in the Plus Program
  • Prime subs come free with Amazon Prime, and Twitch pays a fixed rate for each by country: $2.25 in the US and Canada, $1.80 in the UK, $1.55 in Germany. Some take up to 45 days after the month ends to arrive.
  • Gift subs pay like any sub of their tier. Bundles of 5 or more can sell at a discount, and then the split is on the discounted price. Twitch sometimes covers a discount itself: during SUBtember 2026 it paid streamers the same for a discounted sub as for a full-price one.
  • Subs bought in the mobile apps cost viewers more (Twitch says buying in a browser saves 25%), and only Tier 1 is sold there. Twitch says the higher price is so your payout stays the same.

Kick does it differently: one sub price everywhere, a bigger share to the streamer, and pay for every stream once you're a Partner. The numbers are in how much Kick pays.

The Twitch Plus Program (once Partner Plus): the 60/40 and 70/30 splits

Partner Plus launched in 2023 as a 70/30 split for Partners with 350 recurring paid subs. In 2024 Twitch opened it to Affiliates, renamed it the Plus Program, added a 60/40 level, lowered the 70/30 bar to 300 and removed the old $100,000 cap. Today it works on Plus Points, earned from recurring paid subs only: 1 for a Tier 1 sub, 2 for Tier 2 and 6 for Tier 3.

The Plus Program's two levels, from Twitch's help center
LevelYour share of sub revenuePlus Points needed
Level 160% (60/40)100 a month, 3 months in a row
Level 270% (70/30)300 a month, 3 months in a row
  • Accept the Monetized Streamer Agreement first. Twitch says you must adopt it before you meet the criteria: to qualify in October, by the end of September.
  • Once you qualify, the higher share lasts 12 months, and longer if you keep qualifying. It applies to recurring subs and gift subs.
  • Gift subs and Prime subs don't earn points. Gift subs still get the higher share; Prime subs keep their fixed rate.
  • In Latin America, since June 1, 2025, the levels need 50 and 200 points.

At 300 recurring Tier 1 subs a month, Level 2 is the difference between $900 and $1,257 a month in the US, before taxes and fees.

How much is a Bit worth to a streamer?

Viewers buy Bits from Twitch and use them to Cheer in your chat. Twitch's Partner page says it pays “1 cent per Bit used to Cheer”, and Affiliates earn from Cheering too. So 100 Bits are $1 to you, and a 5,000-Bit Cheer is $50. Local pricing, which makes subs cheaper in many countries, doesn't apply to Bits, so a Bit pays the same cent wherever the viewer is.

  • Power-ups, the effects and rewards viewers buy with Bits (including Custom Power-ups you make, like “choose the next channel I raid”), pay the same: Twitch says you get 100% of the Bits used, as with Cheering.
  • Bits in Extensions pay 80% of a cent per Bit, with the other 20% going to the Extension's developer.
  • Hype Trains start when support from different viewers (subs, Bits) spikes past a threshold you set. Twitch said in May 2026 that more than a third of viewer spending goes toward them.

How much does Twitch pay for ads?

Twitch pays Affiliates and Partners 55% of net ad revenue when they run at least 3 minutes of mid-roll ads an hour, set in Ads Manager (the Recommended or High setting). Only mid-rolls count, and running 3 minutes of them also turns off pre-roll ads for viewers arriving at your stream. This replaced the Ads Incentive Program in 2024. Twitch's current pages don't give the share for running fewer ads; its March 2023 post said Partners who ran fewer got 30%.

Twitch doesn't publish what an ad pays. It moved away from a fixed rate per 1,000 ads in 2022, and what your ads earn now depends on things you can't see in advance. Its earnings page names advertiser demand through the year, viewers with ad blockers (who generate nothing), where viewers are, and content labels on your stream. Viewers on Turbo don't see ads, but Twitch says you still earn from the ads they miss; subscribers see none if you make subs ad-free. Treat any per-1,000 figure you see quoted for Twitch as a guess, and read your own in the Creator Dashboard's Earnings Analytics after a month of streams.

Twitch Affiliate and Partner requirements, and when Twitch pays

Since Twitch's Monetization for All rollout (the US in 2025, worldwide from May 13, 2026), any eligible streamer who accepts the Monetized Streamer Agreement can turn on subs and Bits. But only Affiliates and Partners are paid out. Everyone else's earnings go to a Spendable Balance, which they can only spend on Twitch: subs, gift subs, Bits and Turbo.

PartnerThe Path to Partner: 6 streams on 6 days averaging 75 viewers in the last 30 days, and again in the 30 days before. Then apply: entry isn't guaranteedAll of the above, plus custom Cheermotes. Twitch covers payout fees

Affiliates used to need 50 followers, 8 hours and 7 days; Twitch lowered the bar in June 2025, but kept the 3 average viewers. When you meet it, Twitch invites you.

When Twitch pays. Payouts are “Net 15”: what you earn in May is paid from June 15, and arrives in one to five days depending on the method. You need at least $50 owed for most methods (ACH, PayPal, check, local bank) or $100 for a wire; below that, it rolls over to the next month. Before your first payout, set up a payout method and complete Twitch's tax interviews; changes made after the 8th of a month wait for the next payout. US fees for Affiliates run from $0.25 for ACH to $11 for a wire.

How much do Twitch streamers make? A worked example

Twitch publishes no typical income, so here's the arithmetic for one made-up month. Every number below is an assumption, chosen to show the math, not a figure for what streamers earn: a US Affiliate on the standard split, streaming 80 hours a month to 20 viewers on average.

A made-up Affiliate's month on Twitch: the assumptions and what each pays, before taxes and fees

Ads3 minutes an hour of 30-second ads, every viewer seeing all of them, and $3 to you per 1,000 (a guess: Twitch publishes no rate)20 viewers × 80 hours × 6 ads = 9,600 ads$28.80
Total$281.30

Subs do most of the work, which is why streamers set sub goals and run sub-only perks. The ad line is the weakest: real viewers include subscribers on ad-free subs, Turbo users and ad blockers, and the rate is a guess. Taxes and processing fees come off the sub revenue before the split, so the real figure is lower. It also leaves out what many full-time streamers earn off Twitch: sponsorships, YouTube uploads of their streams (see how much YouTube pays) and merch.

How Twitch streamers grow: clips on TikTok and Shorts

Every line in that table scales with viewers, so growth is the whole game. A live stream mostly reaches people who already follow you; a short clip on TikTok, YouTube Shorts or Reels can reach people who don't, because those feeds show videos by what people watch, not who they follow. A play, a reaction or a story, with your channel name on it, is a sample of the stream, and some of the people who see it come to the next one.

By hand, that means watching hours of VOD again for the moments, cutting each one, laying out the webcam and the game and captioning every word. That's the part Clyper does, from the stream's replay: upload the VOD you downloaded from Twitch's Video Producer (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, up to 4 GB and 4 hours), or export it to YouTube and paste the link. Clyper doesn't take Twitch links. It reads the transcript, picks the best moments and cuts each to whole sentences, finds the webcam and stacks it over the game (the top 1080 × 608), frames the streamer alone in just chatting, and captions every word on the seam. A four-hour stream uses 240 credits and gives up to 30 clips, as 1080 × 1920 MP4s with no watermark. More in stream clips with Clyper.
