How the merged video looks

Free, no watermark, nothing to sign up for. Up to 30 minutes in all; it takes about as long as they play.

How to merge videos

  1. Choose your videos, 2 to 20 of them, or drop them on the player. MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV work. Add more at any time.
  2. Put them in order: drag a video up or down the list, or use its arrows.
  3. Pick the shape of the finished video, and how clips of another shape fit in it. The preview shows it as it will be.
  4. Play it through, then press Merge and download the MP4.

Merging videos of different shapes

Phones film vertical, cameras and screen recordings wide. When the clips don't match, the finished video takes one shape and the others are fitted to it. Pick the shape for where it's going:

The shapes the merged video can have
ShapeSizeFor
Like the firstThe first video's, up to 1080pThe first video's shape
9:161080 × 1920TikTok, Reels, Shorts
16:91920 × 1080YouTube
1:11080 × 1080Square
4:51080 × 1350Instagram feed

Then how a clip of another shape fits. Blurred background shows the whole picture over an enlarged, blurred copy of itself, so the screen looks full and nothing is cut: the usual choice for a wide clip in a vertical video. Crop to fill fills the frame by cutting the edges, which works when the subject is in the middle. Black bars is the plainest. To crop a clip on its own first, with the frame where you want it, use the crop video tool or the vertical video converter.

What people merge

  • A recap or a best-of: the strongest few seconds of several clips, back to back.
  • Parts back into one: a video split for TikTok, joined again for YouTube.
  • An intro or an outro on every video, the same few seconds each time.
  • Several takes filmed on a phone, one after another, as one video.

Cut each clip to the moment first with the video trimmer, and once they're joined, put words on top with add text to video or a song under it with add music to video. For the whole process, and how to do it in iMovie, CapCut or Clipchamp, read how to merge videos.

The clips to merge, from a long video

A recap is only as good as the moments in it, and finding them in an hour-long podcast or stream is the slow part. Clyper does that part: paste the video's YouTube link and it reads the whole transcript, picks the moments worth posting, cuts each one on whole sentences, frames it vertically on whoever's talking and captions every word.

Each clip is its own 1080 × 1920 MP4, to post one by one, or to merge a few here into a recap.

Questions

How do I merge videos for free?

Choose 2 to 20 videos, put them in order, pick the shape of the finished video and how clips of another shape fit in it, and press Merge. You download one MP4: no watermark and nothing to sign up for.

Can I merge videos of different sizes or shapes?

Yes. Pick the finished shape (like the first video, 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 or 4:5), and each clip of another shape is fitted to it: whole on a blurred copy of itself, whole between black bars, or cropped to fill the frame. Clips of different frame rates are joined at the smoothest one's, up to 60 frames a second.

Does merging videos lose quality?

Every frame is drawn into the new video and encoded again at high quality, so it looks the same to the eye, but it isn't a bit-for-bit copy. The finished video is at most 1080p: a 4K clip comes down to 1080p, and a small clip is scaled up to fill its place, which adds no detail.

How many videos can I merge, and how long?

Up to 20 videos at a time, 30 minutes in all. It takes about as long as the videos play, faster on a computer than on a phone. For a longer one, merge it in parts, then merge the parts.

What happens to the sound?

Each clip keeps its own sound, joined in step with the picture. A clip without sound is silent for its length, and the next one's sound starts with its first frame. To put one song under all of it, add it afterwards with the add music to video tool.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the videos and makes the merged one on your device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
