How much does TikTok pay per 1,000 views?

TikTok pays creators for views through its Creator Rewards Program, but it doesn't publish a rate, and its terms ask creators to keep their numbers private. Here's how the program works, what creators report per 1,000 views, who can join, what counts as a qualified view, and why clips of other people's videos are paid another way.

In short

  • Creator Rewards pays per 1,000 qualified views on videos at least a minute long. Creators report about $0.40 to $1.00.
  • That's roughly $400 to $1,000 for a million qualified views, which are fewer than the views a video shows.
  • To join: 18 or older, a personal account, 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days, in one of eight countries.
  • Only original content earns. Reposts and clips of others' videos with light edits don't, so clippers are usually paid by campaigns.

How TikTok pays for views

The Creator Rewards Program is how TikTok pays for views. It took over in 2024 from the Creativity Program, which had replaced the Creator Fund, and pays per 1,000 qualified views on eligible videos. TikTok calls that rate your RPM, and works it out per video from:

  • Video performance: average watch time and how many people finish it.
  • Search value: how much people search for what the video is about.
  • Location: where you're based and where it's watched.
  • Engagement and advertising value: how much viewers interact, and how much of TikTok's ads they watch.

On top of that standard reward, videos that are well crafted (1080p or higher), engaging and specialized can earn an additional reward.

What counts as a qualified view

TikTok pays only on unique views from the For You feed, watched for at least 5 seconds. It leaves out paid, promoted, fraudulent, artificial and disliked views, and a video only starts earning once it reaches 1,000 For You feed views.

TikTok's Creator Academy also mentions search views watched for 30 seconds or more, while its help center counts For You feed views and treats search as a factor in the rate. Either way, qualified views are always fewer than the number under the video.

Who can join Creator Rewards

  • 18 or older (19 in South Korea), with a personal account: business and government accounts can't join.
  • At least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.
  • Based in the US, UK, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Mexico or Brazil.
  • Videos at least one minute long, posted after joining, that aren't ads, paid promotions or sponsored content.

You join from TikTok Studio. TikTok says the rules can change at any time, and rewards on videos that are later removed are taken back from your balance.

Original content, and what that means for clips

TikTok rewards content you designed, filmed and produced yourself. It lists as not original:

  • Content copied from others, especially with their watermark.
  • Content reproduced from others with only slight changes: sped up, filtered, or with fixed text or stickers.
  • Videos combining other people's videos or pictures without new, personal ideas.
  • Duets and Stitches.

Its community guidelines also keep reused content posted without creative edits, such as clips showing someone else's watermark, out of the For You feed. So a clip of another creator's video isn't what Creator Rewards pays for, even with their permission. More on how the apps treat clips in YouTube's reused content policy, for clippers, and on the other apps in what Instagram pays and what Facebook pays.

How clippers get paid instead

On a clipping campaign, the creator or brand pays you a set amount per 1,000 views on the clips you post, by their own rules, often $0.50 to $3. At $1.00, a million views pays $1,000, with views counted by the campaign's rules rather than TikTok's. Find one in how to find clipping campaigns that pay, and see what yours could earn with the clipping earnings calculator. It's the main way to make money on TikTok without showing your face.

Other ways TikTok pays

  • LIVE Gifts: viewers send gifts during a LIVE, which become Diamonds you can cash out. Going LIVE needs 18+ and usually 1,000 followers.
  • Subscriptions: monthly payments from fans for subscriber-only perks; TikTok keeps a service fee.
  • TikTok Shop affiliate: a commission on products you feature, from 1,000 followers in the US.
  • TikTok One: brand deals through TikTok's marketplace, from 10,000 followers.
