Clyper vs StreamLadder

StreamLadder is built for streamers clipping their own Twitch and Kick streams, and it's good at it: paste the VOD link and its AI finds the moments, and on its Creator plan there's no limit on how much you clip. Clyper is built for clippers whose videos are on YouTube. Paste any public link, a podcast, an interview or a finished stream, and get clips cut to whole sentences, framed on whoever's talking and captioned.

Our take

We make Clyper, so read this as our case. What we say about StreamLadder comes from its own site and help center, linked at the bottom.

If the videos you clip are on YouTube, we'd pick Clyper. You paste the link and get clips that start and end on whole sentences, framed on whoever's talking, captioned and scored. StreamLadder's AI clipping, ClipGPT, takes Twitch and Kick VOD links; its help center says YouTube VODs aren't supported, so a YouTube video has to be downloaded and uploaded first.

If you stream on Twitch or Kick and clip your own VODs, StreamLadder is probably the better fit. It takes the VOD link, its Creator plan has unlimited AI clipping for $27 a month ($22.50 billed yearly), and it comes with an editor and a scheduler.

Why clippers pick Clyper over StreamLadder

  1. It takes YouTube links

Clyper takes any public or unlisted YouTube video, from a minute to 4 hours long, and Studio takes 10 links at once. ClipGPT takes Twitch and Kick VOD links, and YouTube streams only as an uploaded file: StreamLadder's help center says “YouTube VODs aren't supported” as links.

Clipping campaigns often hand you YouTube videos: podcasts, interviews, streamers' uploads. Downloading each one to upload it again is time you'd rather spend posting. Either way, you need permission to post clips of someone else's video, and clipping campaigns are where that comes from.

  2. Made for people talking, as well as streams

ClipGPT is a stream clipper: it finds your facecam and keeps it in the vertical crop. Clyper reads what's said. It picks moments that make sense without the rest of the video, cuts each on whole sentences, frames whoever is talking and cuts to the other person when they answer. For a stream, it puts the webcam over the game. So the same tool works for a two-person podcast, an interview or a stream replay.

  3. Cheaper to start

StreamLadder's AI clipping starts with Creator, at $27 a month or $22.50 billed yearly; its free plan and Starter are the editor without ClipGPT. Clyper Starter is $20 a month for 150 minutes of video, up to 75 clips, and Pro is $19 a month billed yearly. If you clip a few videos a month, that's the cheaper way in.

  4. Clips you can post as they come

Each clip arrives 20 to 60 seconds long, captioned word by word in 50+ languages, clear of every app's buttons, with a hook score. If one needs a nudge, trim it, extend either end by up to 15 seconds or fix a word, then download it. StreamLadder's editor does far more, with stickers, emotes, effects and sounds, and that's great for polishing a clip. Every step you add, though, you repeat on every clip.

What it costs

StreamLadder sells a subscription. AI clipping comes with Creator: $27 a month, or $22.50 billed yearly ($270), with unlimited use of ClipGPT and up to 30 clips from each stream. Starter ($15, or $12.50 billed yearly) is the editor and the scheduler without AI clipping, and Pro ($39, or $32.50) adds 4K, posting to X and editors in a shared workspace.

Clyper sells minutes of video. Starter is $20 a month for 150 minutes, up to 75 clips; Pro is 400 minutes, up to 200 clips, for $38, or $19 a month billed yearly. If you clip a few videos a month, Clyper costs less. If you clip many hours of your own Twitch or Kick streams every month, StreamLadder's flat price goes further: a four-hour stream is 240 minutes on Clyper.

Where StreamLadder does more

StreamLadder does a lot more around the clip. ClipGPT takes a Twitch or Kick VOD link as it is, and you can say “clip that” while you're live to mark a moment. Its editor has layouts, stickers, Twitch emotes, effects, music, text to speech and silence removal, and captions 90+ languages. It posts and schedules to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook (and X on Pro), exports in 4K on Pro, lets you invite editors to a workspace, and turns clips into montages and emotes. It has a mobile app, a free plan and a 7-day trial.

Clyper leaves those out to keep clipping quick, and its 5 caption styles are made for short clips. The clips are 1080 × 1920 MP4s with no watermark, so whatever you edit or schedule with, StreamLadder's publisher included, takes them as they are.

Using Clyper with StreamLadder

  1. Clip your YouTube videos in Clyper. Paste the link and get up to 30 clips. Starter is $20 a month, and you can cancel whenever you like.
  2. For a Twitch or Kick stream, upload the replay. Clyper takes MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV files up to 4 GB and 4 hours, and puts the webcam over the game. See stream clips.
  3. Post the way you do now. Download the clips and post them, or schedule them in the publisher you already use, which can be StreamLadder's: it takes clips uploaded from your device.

Questions

Is Clyper better than StreamLadder?

For clipping videos that are on YouTube, we think so: it takes any public link, and its clips come cut to whole sentences, framed on whoever's talking, captioned and scored. For streamers clipping their own Twitch or Kick VODs, StreamLadder takes the VOD link and has unlimited AI clipping on its Creator plan.

Can StreamLadder clip YouTube videos?

Its AI clipping, ClipGPT, takes Twitch and Kick VOD links. Its help center says YouTube VODs aren't supported as links, so you upload the stream's file instead (up to 10 GB). Clyper takes any public or unlisted YouTube link.

Can Clyper clip Twitch or Kick streams?

From the replay: download it and upload the file (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, up to 4 GB and 4 hours). Clyper takes YouTube links and uploads, not Twitch or Kick links.

How much does StreamLadder cost?

Its clip editor is free. Starter is $15 a month, Creator (with AI clipping) $27 and Pro $39, or $12.50, $22.50 and $32.50 a month billed yearly. New users get a 7-day free trial.

Does Clyper have a free trial?

No, there's no free plan or trial. Starter is $20 a month, billed monthly, so a month is enough to see what it makes of your videos.

Can Clyper post my clips for me?

No. You download them and post them yourself. StreamLadder can post and schedule to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, and to X on Pro.
