Bleep censor

Bleep the swearing out of a video or podcast without scrubbing through it. It's transcribed on your device, every swear word found and bleeped, and any other word is a click away. Hear it before you download. Free, and nothing is uploaded.

MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, or MP3, M4A and WAV, up to 30 minutes. It's transcribed and bleeped on your device: nothing is uploaded.

What to bleep

Around each word

The swear word list is English. In any language, click words in the transcript or type them above.

Free, no watermark, nothing to sign up for. The speech model is a one-time download of about 76 MB; after that it's kept in your browser.

How to bleep out swear words in a video

  1. Choose the video (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV) or a sound file (MP3, M4A, WAV and more), or try the example first.
  2. Press Find the swear words. The speech is turned into text with each word's timing, and every swear word is marked.
  3. Check it. Play it with the bleeps, click a time under Hear each bleep to jump to one, and click any word to bleep it or keep it. Check Bleep milder words too, or type others, like a name, to bleep those as well.
  4. Download. Only the sound is re-encoded, so the picture is exactly as it was; a sound file comes back as an MP3. Download captions too, as an SRT with the bleeped words starred out.

What it bleeps

It reads every word of the transcript, so it catches each form of a word (“f**king”, “f**ked”, “motherf****r”) and leaves words that only look alike, like “Scunthorpe”, “cocktail” or “assume”, alone.

Which words the bleep censor finds
WordsBleeped
Strong swearing: the f-word, s**t, c**t, b***h, a**hole, d**k, b*****d and their formsAlways
Words the speech model already starred out, like f***Always
Milder words: damn, hell, crap, ass, piss, bloodyWhen you check milder words
Names, brands, places, any phrase you typeWherever they're said
Any word you clickJust that once

Each bleep covers the word and a little either side, since a word's timing from speech recognition is close but not exact. If you can still hear the start of a word, set Around each word to Wide.

When a bleep makes the difference

On YouTube, swearing rarely gets a video taken down, but it can cost ads. YouTube's advertiser-friendly guidelines count a bleeped or muted word as obscured profanity, which can earn full ads, while swearing in most sentences gets a video limited ads, and a clip focused on someone swearing can be age-restricted. A 30-second clip of a heated moment reaches “most sentences” fast. The full rules, titles and thumbnails included, are in can you swear on YouTube.

Bleeping also opens doors that swearing closes: brand deals that ask for clean content, a church, school or company channel, a client who wants clips of their stream or podcast without the language. And sometimes it's not a swear word at all, but a name, a phone number or an address said on a live stream that shouldn't be in the clip.

Bleeped clips, made for you

Clipping streams and podcasts is where the swearing is. Clyper finds the moments worth posting in a long video, cuts each one on whole sentences, frames it vertically on whoever's talking and captions every word. Bleep what needs it here, then add captions with the auto caption generator or turn a quiet clip up with the video volume booster.

Questions

How do I bleep out swear words in a video for free?

Choose the video here and press Find the swear words. It's transcribed on your device and every swear word is marked in red. Play it to hear the bleeps, click any word to bleep it or keep it, then download the video with the bleeps in. No watermark, nothing to sign up for.

Can it bleep words that aren't swearing, like a name?

Yes. Type them under Other words to bleep, separated by commas: a name, a brand, an address, a whole phrase. Every place it's said is bleeped. You can also click any word in the transcript to bleep just that one.

Is the video uploaded anywhere?

No. The speech model runs in your browser, and the bleeps are mixed in on your device too, so the video never leaves it. The model is a one-time download of about 76 MB. It works on videos and sound files up to 30 minutes.

What if it misses a word, or bleeps the wrong one?

Click the word in the transcript: a red word is bleeped, a plain one isn't. If a bleep starts a little late or ends early, set Around each word to Wide, which bleeps a little more on both sides of each word.

Can I use silence instead of a bleep?

Yes. Pick Silence and the swear word just drops out. The classic tone is clearer to viewers that something was cut; silence is quieter, and suits podcasts and calm videos.

Does it work in other languages?

The transcript works in 18 languages. The list of swear words it finds by itself is English, so in another language, click the words to bleep or type them under Other words to bleep.
