Rotate video

Turn a sideways or upside-down video the right way up, or mirror it. Turning takes seconds and loses nothing, and your video never leaves your device.

An example: 8 seconds of IMPAULSIVE

MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, or drop one on the preview. Nothing is uploaded.

Turn and flip

As it is

Turn or flip it first: the preview shows how it'll come out.

How to rotate a video

  1. Choose your video, or drop it on the preview. MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV work.
  2. Turn it left or right until the preview is the right way up, or mirror it.
  3. Save it, then download it.

Why turning takes seconds

A video file can say which way up to show its picture: phones write that into every video they record, and players, editors and apps read it. Turning a video here changes that note and copies the picture as it is, so even a long video is done in seconds and every frame is untouched. A mirror can't be done that way everywhere, so a flip re-encodes the picture, at high quality.

Sideways isn't the same as vertical

Turning a horizontal video on its side makes it tall, but everything in it lies on its side too. To post a horizontal video on TikTok, Reels or Shorts the right way up, crop it to 9:16 with the vertical video converter or the video cropper. See every app's shape and size in video sizes for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

Questions

How do I rotate a video?

Choose the video, press Turn left or Turn right until the preview is the right way up, and press Save rotated video. Then download it. A half turn is two presses.

Why is my video sideways?

Phones don't turn the picture itself: they record it one way and note which way up it goes. If the phone guessed wrong, like when you started filming flat on a table, or an app ignores that note, the video plays sideways. Turning it here fixes the note.

Does rotating a video lower its quality?

Not here. A turn is saved in the file's rotation info, the same way phones save it, so the picture is copied exactly as it was. A mirror or upside-down flip has to be re-encoded, which is done at high quality.

How do I flip or mirror a video?

Press Mirror to flip it left to right, which fixes text that reads backwards in a front-camera video, or Upside down to flip it top to bottom. You can turn it as well, and the preview shows the result.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser reads the video and saves the turned copy on your device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else.

Is it free?

Yes, with no watermark and nothing to sign up for.
