Where it comes from

  • Brand deals · 2 × $300$600
  • Gifts$10
  • Subscriptions$175

Views alone pay nothing on Instagram, and bonuses are invite-only, so neither is counted. Gifts and subscriptions pay out around the 21st of the next month once you're owed $5 in the US ($25 elsewhere). Brands pay you directly.

The same 120K views a month on other apps

  • Instagram ReelsNo pay per view
  • TikTok Creator Rewards · $0.70 per 1,000$84
  • YouTube Shorts · $0.07 per 1,000$8.40
  • A clipping campaign · $1.00 per 1,000$120

Post the same clips on TikTok and Shorts and those views pay too, on top of what Instagram brings. TikTok's rewards are for original videos of 1 minute or more, and Shorts pay channels in the Partner Program. Or clip for campaigns, which pay for views on Reels as well.

An estimate, before taxes. Brand deal prices are 2026 benchmarks, not rates: what you're offered depends on your niche, your audience and what the brand asks for. Gifts and subscriptions use Instagram's own rates; TikTok, Shorts and campaigns use typical reported rates.

How the estimate works

Instagram doesn't pay a set amount per view. Its bonuses, the one program that pays for how posts perform, are invite-only and still a test, so the calculator leaves them out and adds up the three ways most accounts can earn:

  1. Put in your followers, views per reel and reels a month. Your followers put you in a tier; your views are what the same posts would earn on other apps.
  2. Add the sponsored posts you'd make a month. Each one is priced at the range brands pay your tier, or, if you price by views, at $5 to $25 per 1,000 views of a typical reel. The total shows the middle of the range, with the low and high ends under it.
  3. Add gifts and subscriptions. Gifts pay $0.01 a Star. Subscriptions pay your price times your subscribers, less the 30% Apple and Google take of purchases in the app; Instagram's own share is 0% for now. With 100 subscribers at $4.99, that's about $349 a month.

What brands pay Instagram accounts, by size

What brands commonly pay for a sponsored Instagram post, by follower tier, in 2026
TierFollowersSponsored post
NanoUnder 10,000$10 to $100+
Micro10,000 to 100,000$100 to $500+
Mid-tier100,000 to 500,000$500 to $5,000+
Macro500,000 to 1,000,000$5,000 to $10,000+
Mega1,000,000+$10,000 to $100,000+

These are Influencer Marketing Hub's 2026 planning benchmarks, last updated October 7, 2026, and every top end is open. Reels generally cost more than a static post, and stories less. Collabstr's 2026 report, from over 21,000 collaborations on its marketplace, found brands paid an average of $193 per Instagram collaboration, against an average listed price of $214: most deals there are small ones, and 80% of all its collaborations cost under $300.

Within a tier, your views and engagement help decide where you land. Brands often weigh a price against the views it brings, at about $5 to $25 per 1,000, and accounts with above-average engagement often charge more. Work out yours with the engagement rate calculator before you pitch.

What each way of earning needs

Ways to earn on Instagram: who can use each and what it pays
Way to earnWho can use itWhat it pays
Brand dealsA professional account with an established presence; no follower count is published. Meta's Creator Marketplace, where brands find creators, takes 1,000 followers and 18+The price you agree, paid by the brand

BadgesA professional account, 18+, 10,000 followersWhat viewers pay for badges in your live videos, up to $250 per viewer in a live, less the app stores' 30%

Instagram pays what gifts, subscriptions and badges earn in one payout, around the 21st of each month for the month before (bonuses around the 7th and 21st), once you're owed $5 in the US, or $25 elsewhere ($100 by wire). Set up a payout account early: without one you can build up to $500 a tool and $1,500 in all, and if you haven't added one within 6 months, those earnings are lost.

All of it needs your own content. Instagram only lets creators monetize what they made, helped make or appear in, and other people's videos can't earn without meaningful changes like commentary, parody or creative editing. Instagram adds that stitching clips together or adding a watermark doesn't make a post materially edited.

How to earn more on Instagram

Get more views per reel. Views are what a brand checks a price against, and what every other app pays for. See how to get more views on Instagram Reels and how the Reels algorithm works.

Charge for more than the post. Influencer Marketing Hub names extended usage rights, whitelisting and paid amplification (the brand running your post as an ad) among the biggest reasons rates go up. Price them in rather than giving them away.

Post clips of your own long videos. They're your content, so they can earn, and one podcast episode or stream gives you a batch of reels. That's what Clyper makes: see podcast clips and stream clips.

Post the same clips on TikTok and Shorts. Both pay for views that Instagram doesn't: see what with the TikTok money calculator and the Shorts money calculator. If you clip other people's videos, campaigns pay you per 1,000 views on Reels too: run the numbers in the clipping earnings calculator.

Questions

How much do Instagram influencers make?

Most of it comes from brand deals. Influencer Marketing Hub's 2026 benchmarks put a sponsored post at $10 to $100+ for accounts under 10,000 followers, $100 to $500+ at 10,000 to 100,000, $500 to $5,000+ at 100,000 to 500,000, and $10,000 to $100,000+ past 1,000,000. On Collabstr's marketplace, brands paid an average of $193 per Instagram collaboration.

How much does Instagram pay for 1 million views?

Nothing by itself: Instagram has no rate per view, and its bonuses, which pay for how posts perform, are invite-only. The same million views would pay about $700 on TikTok's Creator Rewards and $70 on YouTube Shorts at typical reported rates, or $1,000 on a clipping campaign paying $1.00 per 1,000.

How much can you make on Instagram with 10,000 followers?

10,000 followers is the start of the micro tier, where brands commonly pay $100 to $500+ for a sponsored post (Influencer Marketing Hub, 2026). It's also when subscriptions and live badges open: 100 subscribers at $4.99 a month would bring about $349 after the app stores' 30%.

How many followers do you need to make money on Instagram?

500 for gifts, 1,000 to be listed on Meta's Creator Marketplace, and 10,000 for subscriptions and live badges, all on a professional account at 18 or older. Brand deals have no set minimum, and bonuses are by invitation.

How much is a Star worth on Instagram?

Instagram pays creators $0.01 for every Star viewers send as a gift on their reels, so 1,000 Stars pay $10. It's paid monthly with your other Instagram earnings, once you have 500 followers and a payout account.

How much should I charge for a sponsored post on Instagram?

Start from your tier's range, then check it against your views: brands often pay $5 to $25 per 1,000 views, so a reel that gets 20,000 views supports $100 to $500. Charge more if the brand wants to run it as an ad, and for a reel over a story.
