Clyper vs Crayo
Crayo is an AI short-video maker: Reddit stories, fake-text videos, AI voiceovers and images, and an AutoClip tool that cuts long videos into clips, all paid from the same credits, one a clip. Clyper is built for clippers and only makes clips. Paste any YouTube link up to 4 hours long and get up to 30 clips, each with a hook score, from $20 a month.

Our take
We make Clyper, so this is our case for it. What we say about Crayo comes from its own site, linked at the bottom.
If you clip for campaigns, we'd pick Clyper. Crayo does a lot: its credits pay for Reddit story videos, fake texts and AI images as well as clips, and its editor has a full timeline. Clyper does one thing. Paste a link and up to 30 clips come back cut to whole sentences, framed on whoever's talking, captioned word by word and given a hook score, so you know which to post first.
It costs less to start, too: Clyper Starter is $20 a month, and Crayo's smallest plan, Hobby, is $29 month to month. Clyper counts minutes of video, so asking for more clips from a video doesn't cost more.
Why clippers pick Clyper over Crayo
Up to 30 clips from one video, each with a hook score
Crayo's AutoClip gives 1 to 20 ranked clips from a video, and its own comparison says it ranks moments rather than printing a score. On Clyper you choose how many you want, up to 30 a video, or leave it on Auto, and every clip gets a hook score, so a two-hour podcast gives you a month of posts and you know which to post first.
Built only for clipping
Crayo's credits are shared: “one credit per AI-generated video”, whether that's a clip, a Reddit story or a fake-text video. Clyper's plans pay for clips and nothing else. Each one runs 20 to 60 seconds, starts and ends on a whole sentence, follows whoever's talking and cuts to the other person when they answer; a stream gets its webcam stacked over the game.
You still need permission to post clips of another creator's video, which clipping campaigns give.
Videos up to 4 hours, by link or upload
Crayo takes a YouTube or TikTok link, or an upload up to 4 GB and 3 hours, and its comparison says a 6-hour stream needs splitting. Clyper takes any public or unlisted YouTube link from a minute to 4 hours long, or a file up to 4 GB, and Clyper Studio takes 10 links at once.
Cheaper to start, and priced by the video
Clyper Starter is $20 a month for 150 minutes of video, up to 75 clips. Crayo's Hobby is $29 month to month for 250 credits and 2 hours of exports, where each clip is a credit. On Clyper, a credit is a minute of the video you clip, however many clips you ask for, and if one needs a nudge, you can trim it, extend either end by up to 15 seconds or fix a word.

What it costs
Crayo sells credits, one for each AI video it makes (a clip, a Reddit story or a fake-text video), with hours of exports beside them. Hobby is $29 a month, or $199 a year ($16.58 a month), for 250 credits and 2 hours of exports; Clipper is $59, or $399 a year, for 1,000 credits and 10 hours; Pro is $129, or $799 a year, for 3,000 credits and 30 hours. Its pricing page opens on billing every 3 months, which comes between the two.
Clyper sells minutes of video for clips: Starter is 150 minutes for $20 a month, up to 75 clips; Pro is 400 minutes for $38, or $19 billed yearly, up to 200 clips. Month to month, Clyper costs less to start, $20 against $29. Which goes further depends on how you clip: Crayo charges each clip and caps the hours you export, and Clyper charges the video, so taking more of its best moments, up to 30, costs nothing more.

Where Crayo does more
Crayo is a whole short-video studio. It makes faceless videos from Reddit stories and fake text conversations, with AI voiceovers in 100+ voices, AI images, a voice changer and a library of gameplay for split screens. Its timeline editor has 32 caption templates, zooms, transitions and keyframes, it tracks your posts' views, and its Content Library lists clipping campaigns with the footage attached.
Clyper makes clips and stops there, in 5 caption styles or your own on Pro and Studio. They download as 1080 × 1920 MP4s with no watermark, so they open in any editor, Crayo's included, if you want to add more.
Switching from Crayo
- Pick a plan. Starter is $20 a month, and you can cancel it whenever you like. Pro and Studio cost less billed yearly.
- Clip a video you've clipped in Crayo. Paste its YouTube link, ask for as many clips as you want, and put the two sets side by side, hook scores and all.
- Post the way you do now. Download the clips, post them and submit them to your campaigns. For what gets a clip watched to the end, see how to make viral clips.
Questions
Is Clyper better than Crayo for clipping?
For clipping long videos, we think so: it's built for nothing else. Paste any public YouTube link up to 4 hours long, choose up to 30 clips, and each comes back cut to whole sentences, framed on whoever's talking, captioned and given a hook score. Crayo is a short-video studio with clipping as one tool among faceless videos, Reddit stories and AI voiceovers.
Can Crayo clip YouTube videos?
Yes: its AutoClip takes a YouTube or TikTok link, or an upload up to 4 GB and 3 hours, and gives 1 to 20 ranked clips. Its pages say it doesn't import Twitch or Kick VODs. Clyper takes any public or unlisted YouTube link up to 4 hours long and gives up to 30 clips, each with a hook score.
How much does Crayo cost?
Hobby is $29 a month, or $199 a year, for 250 credits and 2 hours of exports; Clipper is $59, or $399 a year, for 1,000 credits and 10 hours; Pro is $129, or $799 a year, for 3,000 credits and 30 hours. A credit makes one AI video, a clip included. It has no free plan or trial.
Is Clyper cheaper than Crayo?
To start, yes: Clyper Starter is $20 a month, against $29 for Crayo's Hobby month to month. They count differently: Crayo charges a credit for each clip and caps the hours you export, and Clyper charges minutes of the video you clip, however many clips you ask for, up to 30 a video.
Does Crayo have a free plan?
No: its own pages say it has no free plan or trial, only twelve free browser tools. Clyper has no free plan either, but Starter is $20 month to month, so a month is all it takes to try it on your own videos.
Which is better for clipping campaigns?
Clyper. Campaigns hand you YouTube links, and Clyper takes any public or unlisted one up to 4 hours long, gives up to 30 clips a video cut on whole sentences, captions every word above each app's username and caption and scores every clip, with 10 links at once on Studio.
