Video trimmer

Cut a video down to the part you want: drag the ends, check it plays right, and download an MP4 at the same size and quality. It runs on your device, so nothing is uploaded.

0:00 / 0:00

MP4, MOV or WebM, or drop one on the player. It's trimmed on your device: nothing is uploaded.

An example: 8 seconds of IMPAULSIVE

Same size and quality, just the part you chose. MP4, no watermark.

How to trim a video

  1. Choose your video, or drop it on the player. MP4, MOV and WebM work.
  2. Set the part: drag either end of the bar, type the times, or play the video and press Now where it should start and end. Play the part to check it.
  3. Trim, then download the MP4.

Where to cut a clip

Start on the line that hooks. People decide in the first second or two whether to keep watching, so start on the sentence that makes them want the next one, not on a greeting or a breath.

End on the payoff. Stop right after the answer, the punchline or the point lands. Anything after it is where people scroll away.

Cut between sentences. A clip that starts or stops mid-word feels broken. Play the part through once before you trim. For more, read how to make clips that go viral.

After trimming

A horizontal video posted as it is fills a third of a phone's screen. Make it 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts with the vertical video converter, add word-by-word captions with add captions to video, or make it small enough to send with the video compressor. To cut a long video into several parts at once, use the video splitter; to take the pauses out of a talking video, use remove silence from video, and to fit a clip into a length without cutting anything, speed it up a little with the video speed changer. Questions

How do I trim a video?

Choose the video, then drag the two ends of the bar to the part you want, or play it and press Now at the start and the end. Press Trim video and download the MP4.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser reads it, cuts it and saves the new file, all on your device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else.

Does trimming lose quality?

The part you keep is re-encoded at about the same quality as the original, at the same size, so it looks the same to the eye. That's also what lets the cut land on the exact second you chose.

How long can the part be?

Up to 10 minutes at a time, from a video of any length. In a browser tab, cutting takes about as long as the part plays, faster on a computer.

Is it free? Is there a watermark?

It's free, with no watermark and nothing to sign up for.

Can it find the best part for me?

Not here: you pick the part. Clyper goes through a whole video, finds its best moments and makes each one a vertical clip with captions, from a YouTube link or an upload.

Let Clyper find the best parts

Paste a YouTube link and Clyper finds the moments worth posting, cuts them to whole sentences, frames them vertically and captions every word: up to 30 clips per video.
