Video splitter

Split a long video into parts: every 30 or 60 seconds, into equal parts, or right where you mark it. Keep it as it is, or make each part 9:16 and numbered for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. It runs on your device, so nothing is uploaded.

The parts

Each part is copied without re-encoding: done in seconds, at exactly the original's quality.

MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, or drop one on the player. It's split on your device: nothing is uploaded.

An example: 8 seconds of IMPAULSIVE

Free, no watermark, nothing to sign up for. Download each part, or all of them in a ZIP.

How to split a video into parts

  1. Choose your video, or drop it on the player. MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV work.
  2. Choose how to split it: every 15, 30, 60 or 90 seconds (or any length you type), into 2 to 20 equal parts, or where you mark it. For marks, play the video or click along the bar and press Split at for each place.
  3. Choose the shape. As it is copies each part without re-encoding. 9:16 crop fills a phone's screen; 9:16 fit keeps the whole picture on a blurred copy of itself. Tick numbering to put “Part 1/5” at the top of each.
  4. Split, then play any part to check it and download them one by one, or all at once in a ZIP.

How long each part should be

The longest video each app takes, and a part length that suits it
AppLongest videoParts that suit it
TikTok60 minutes60 to 90 seconds, numbered, so viewers watch the next one
Instagram Reels20 minutes (up to 3 minutes recommended)60 to 90 seconds
YouTube Shorts3 minutes60 seconds to 3 minutes

The apps take long videos, but short parts are what people finish. A part that ends on a question or halfway through a story sends them to the next one. For more on length, read how long a short video should be, and check a part against each app with the video size checker.

Parts, or clips?

Parts cut a video into pieces by the clock: every piece is there, in order, and the cuts land wherever the time runs out, often mid-sentence. They suit a series people watch from the start, like a story or a lesson.

Clips are the moments worth watching on their own: a strong first line, one idea, a clean ending. That's what gets shared by people who never saw the full video. To make them by hand, find each moment and cut it with the video trimmer; to see how, read how to turn a YouTube video into Shorts. Going the other way, the video merger joins parts or clips back into one video.

Questions

How do I split a video into parts?

Choose the video, then pick how to split it: every so many seconds, into a number of equal parts, or at the places you mark while it plays. Press Split and download each part, or all of them in one ZIP.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser reads it and makes the parts on your device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else.

Does splitting lose quality?

Not when you keep the shape as it is: each part is copied without re-encoding, so it's exactly the original's picture and sound, and it's done in seconds. Making the parts 9:16 or numbering them redraws and re-encodes each one, at high quality.

Can I split a video for TikTok, Reels or Shorts?

Yes. Choose 9:16 crop or 9:16 fit to make each part fill a phone's screen, and number the parts so viewers look for the next one. Shorts can be up to 3 minutes long, so 60 or 90 second parts suit all three apps.

How long can the video be, and how many parts?

Any length when you keep its shape, in up to 100 parts at a time (or 20 equal parts). Parts made 9:16 or numbered come from up to 30 minutes of video at a time, because re-encoding takes about as long as the video plays.

Can it split a video at its best moments instead?

Not here: this splits by the clock or where you mark it. Clyper reads a long video's transcript, finds the moments worth posting and makes up to 30 vertical clips, each cut on whole sentences and captioned word by word.

Clips at the best moments, not every 60 seconds

Paste a YouTube link and Clyper finds the moments worth posting, cuts each one on whole sentences, frames it vertically and captions every word: up to 30 clips per video.
