How to make money on TikTok without showing your face

You don't need to be on camera to earn from TikTok. The main faceless route is clipping: posting short clips of other people's long videos for campaigns that pay per view. There are also faceless videos you make yourself, and TikTok Shop. Here's how each one pays, what TikTok's rules allow, and how to pick the one that fits you.

In short

  • Clipping is the most common faceless route: creators and brands pay a set amount per 1,000 views on the clips you post of their videos.
  • TikTok's Creator Rewards pays about $0.40 to $1.00 per 1,000 qualified views, as creators report, but only for original videos you made, at least a minute long.
  • Faceless videos you make yourself, like voiceover explainers, screen recordings and gameplay with commentary, can be original. Reposts of others' videos can't.
  • TikTok Shop's affiliate program pays a commission on sales, from 1,000 followers in the US. Hands-only product demos work without a face.

Ways to earn on TikTok without your face

There are four faceless ways to earn, and they pay very differently:

Faceless ways to earn on TikTok
RouteWho pays, and for whatWhat you need
Clipping campaignsThe creator or brand, per 1,000 views on your clipsTo follow each campaign's rules; many ask for no following
Creator RewardsTikTok, per 1,000 qualified views10,000 followers, 100,000 views in 30 days, original videos of a minute or more
Faceless videos you makeCreator Rewards, brand deals, or bothYour own voice, screen, footage or ideas
TikTok Shop affiliateA commission on what people buy1,000 followers, 18 or older, in the US

Most people start with clipping, because it can pay from the first clip and needs no face, no voice of your own and, on many campaigns, no following.

Clipping: other people's videos, paid per view

Creators with long videos, like podcasts, streams and interviews, want to be seen on TikTok, but don't have time to cut hundreds of clips. So they run clipping campaigns: anyone who joins can post clips of their videos, and they pay a set amount per 1,000 views the clips get, often $0.50 to $3. You never appear: the clip is their face, their voice and their words, cut, framed and captioned by you.

At $1.00 per 1,000 views, a clip with 50,000 views earns $50, and a million views across your clips pays $1,000. Run your own numbers in the clipping earnings calculator.

The campaign is what gives you permission to post their videos, so stick to its rules: which videos, which apps, what to tag. Posting clips of someone without permission isn't clipping, it's reposting, and it can get your account taken down. More in is clipping legal? and how to find clipping campaigns that pay.

Creator Rewards, and why clips don't earn from it

TikTok's own program pays per 1,000 qualified views: unique views from the For You feed, watched for at least 5 seconds, on videos at least a minute long. To join, you need to be 18 or older with a personal account, 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, in the US, UK, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Mexico or Brazil.

It pays only for original content: videos designed, filmed and produced by you. TikTok lists as not original:

  • Content copied from others, especially with their watermark.
  • Content reproduced from others with only slight changes: sped up, filtered, or with fixed text or stickers.
  • Videos combining other people's videos or pictures without new, personal ideas.
  • Duets and Stitches.

So clips of someone else's podcast, however well cut, don't earn from Creator Rewards, which is why clippers are paid by campaigns instead. Faceless videos you make yourself can qualify. What it pays is in how much TikTok pays per 1,000 views, and you can try your own numbers in the TikTok money calculator. Faceless videos you make yourself

Original doesn't mean on camera. Formats that work without a face, where the work is clearly yours:

  • Voiceover explainers: your script and your voice over footage you shot or have the right to use.
  • Screen recordings: tutorials, app walkthroughs, edits and builds, with your narration.
  • Gameplay with commentary: your own play, with you talking through it. Check the game's rules on sharing footage.
  • Hands-only videos: cooking, crafts, unboxings and product demos filmed from above.
  • Text-led videos: stories, lists and facts on screen, written by you.

If you use AI for voices or visuals, TikTok requires a label on realistic AI-generated content: turn on the AI-generated content setting before posting. TikTok says the label doesn't reduce a video's reach.

TikTok Shop affiliate

As a TikTok Shop affiliate, you feature products in your videos and earn a commission when people buy through them. In the US you need at least 1,000 followers, to be 18 or older, an account that isn't political or governmental, and to pass TikTok's identity check. You join from TikTok Studio, under Monetization.

It suits faceless videos well: hands-only demos, before-and-afters and screen recordings of an app show the product better than a face would. It pays for sales, not views, so a small account with the right product can out-earn a big one.

Which route fits you

  • You want to start this week, with no followers: clipping. Join a campaign, post clips, get paid for views.
  • You have a skill to show or teach: faceless videos of your own, toward Creator Rewards and brand deals.
  • You like recommending products: TikTok Shop, once you have 1,000 followers.
  • You want more than one: many clippers run campaign accounts and grow a faceless account of their own on the side.

Setting up a faceless account

  1. Pick one topic. An account about one thing is easier for TikTok to show to the right people, and easier for a campaign to trust.
  2. Use a personal account if you're aiming for Creator Rewards: business accounts can't join.
  3. Win the first second. Faceless videos have no face to stop the scroll, so the opening line does the work. The hook generator has formulas that hold attention.
  4. Caption every word. Most people watch with the sound off, and captions carry a faceless video.
  5. Post on a rhythm you can keep. A few good videos every day teach you more than a burst and a break.

A clipping workflow that keeps up

Clipping pays for volume: the more good clips you post, the more chances one has to take off. Cutting by hand is what slows most clippers down: finding the moment, cutting it on whole sentences, cropping it to 9:16 on whoever's talking, and captioning every word.

A workflow that keeps up: pick a campaign, take its newest long video, make clips of its best moments, post the strongest first, and submit the links the way the campaign asks. The full walkthrough is in how to make money clipping.

Mistakes that cost faceless accounts

  • Reposting as it was. A clip with someone else's watermark, or no edit of your own, isn't recommended in the For You feed and doesn't earn.
  • Buying followers or views. TikTok leaves fraudulent and artificial views out of Creator Rewards, and campaigns check them too.
  • Skipping the AI label. Realistic AI content posted without it can be removed or restricted.
  • Breaking a campaign's rules. A missing tag or the wrong video can mean no pay for a clip with real views.

Questions

Can you make money on TikTok without showing your face?

Yes. Clipping campaigns pay per view for clips of other people's videos, faceless videos you make yourself can earn from Creator Rewards and brand deals, and TikTok Shop pays commissions on products you feature.

Do faceless accounts get paid by Creator Rewards?

They can, if the videos are original: made by you, at least a minute long, from a personal account with 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in 30 days. Showing your face isn't required; reposting others' videos doesn't count.

How much do faceless TikTok accounts make?

It depends on the route. Creators report Creator Rewards paying about $0.40 to $1.00 per 1,000 qualified views, clipping campaigns often pay $0.50 to $3 per 1,000 views, and Shop pays a commission per sale. Views vary a lot from video to video.

Is clipping a good faceless side hustle?

It's the easiest faceless route to start: no camera and no voice needed, many campaigns ask for no following, and they pay for views from your first clip. What you earn depends on how many good clips you post and how they perform.

Do I need 10,000 followers to make money on TikTok?

Only for Creator Rewards. Many clipping campaigns don't ask for a following, and TikTok Shop's affiliate program starts at 1,000 followers in the US.

Can I use an AI voice on TikTok?

Yes, but TikTok requires you to label realistic AI-generated content, using the AI-generated content setting before you post. TikTok says the label doesn't affect a video's reach.
