Turn Riverside recordings into short clips
Export the episode from Riverside's editor and upload it, or paste its YouTube link. Clyper finds the moments worth posting, cuts each on whole sentences, frames whoever's talking and captions every word: up to 30 clips from an episode.
MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, up to 4 GB and 4 hours

How to export a Riverside recording
Riverside records each person on their own device, uploads their tracks, and puts them together as an edit: one video with everyone in it. That edit is the file to upload. These steps are for the editor in a computer browser.
- 1Log in to Riverside, go to the studio and the project, and open the recording in the editor.
- 2Keep the aspect ratio, at the top of the editor, on 16:9: Clyper makes the vertical crop. Clips are sharpest when the speaker is big, so turn on Smart layouts (under AI tools) with the Full screen style to switch to whoever is speaking. It replaces layouts you've already set; a side-by-side edit works too.
- 3Click Export in the top right corner, then Download.
- 4Choose Video and the highest quality you can: 720p, 1080p HD, 2160p 4K. On paid plans, turn on Remove watermark. The Free plan exports up to 720p with a small Riverside watermark at the top of the frame, which can end up in your clips.
- 5Click Download video. You can keep editing meanwhile; Riverside emails you when it's ready, the MP4 downloads to your computer, and a copy stays in the project's Exports.
- 6Upload the MP4 to Clyper. Published the episode to YouTube (Riverside can post there on Pro and up)? Paste its link instead.
Exports don't use your plan's download hours; separate tracks do. For a solo show, your own track (Recordings, then Download next to your track under Tracks, then Raw video) is one camera at full resolution, the sharpest file you can upload, and it has no watermark, even on Free. Skip the cloud recordings: they're a backup recorded over the internet, at most 720p for each person, and deleted after 3 months.
How it works
- 1
Add the episode
Upload the MP4 you exported from Riverside, or paste the episode's YouTube link.
- 2
Get the clips
Clyper finds the moments that stand on their own, frames whoever's talking and captions every word.
- 3
Post them
Check each clip in the editor, then download 1080 × 1920 MP4s with no watermark for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
What you get
- Follows whoever's talkingIt picks the speaker from their mouth moving and cuts with the edit's own layout changes, so host and guest each get the frame.
- Sharper from 4KA vertical crop uses about a third of a wide frame, so a 1080p or 4K export gives clearly sharper clips than 720p.
- Whole sentencesEvery clip is 20 to 60 seconds and starts and ends on a full sentence, never mid-thought.
- Captions in 50+ languagesEvery word, in the episode's language, placed clear of TikTok's, Reels' and Shorts' buttons.
- One file, no download hoursClyper works from the exported edit, which doesn't count against Riverside's track downloads.
- No watermarkClean 9:16 MP4s, each with a hook score so you post the strongest first.
“Went from an hour per clip to under 2 minutes. Still can’t believe it.”
Riverside's Magic Clips, and when Clyper fits better
Riverside has its own clip maker, Magic Clips, on every plan, under Made for You in each project. It makes a set for every recording or upload over 3 minutes that has a transcript: usually 2 for every 5 minutes, 30 to 90 seconds each, with animated captions, ranked from 99 down to 70. On Pro and up you can generate 2 more sets (4 on Business), aimed at a speaker or keywords. If you record on Riverside and they give you what you need, use them.
Clyper is the better fit when:
- the episode is already on YouTube, and you'd rather paste a link than export;
- you want to choose the number of clips: up to 30 from an hour, each cut on whole sentences;
- you clip a back catalog or several shows, some recorded elsewhere: on Studio, paste 10 episodes' links at once;
- you clip shows for clients, from their YouTube links or files, without access to their Riverside account.
Recording on Riverside for clips that look good
- Record above 720p. Riverside records at 720p unless a host or producer sets the studio to Advanced (in Studio settings, under Recording, on paid plans) for up to 1080p or 4K, as each camera allows.
- Head and shoulders, at eye level, with a little room above. Clyper follows the face, so it needn't be dead center.
- Headphones for everyone, so no voice leaks into another mic. More setup in how to start a video podcast.
- Big slide text, in the middle. A screen share with no face on it is cropped to its middle, so its edges are cut off.
Before you post: guests and the episode
A guest agreed to an episode, not necessarily to forty seconds of it on TikTok. Ask before you post, and send them their clips the day the episode goes up: a guest who shares theirs brings their audience to yours. Clip other people's shows only with their permission.
Name the show in every caption and point people to the full episode, and bleep anything that shouldn't go out with the free bleep censor. Which moments to pick is in how to clip a podcast, a weekly rhythm in how to grow a podcast with clips, and more on episodes in podcast clips with Clyper.
What it costs
A credit is a minute of video, so a plan is how much video you can clip in a month, however many clips it makes. An hour-long episode uses 60 credits and can give up to 30 clips.

Questions
Can I make clips from a Riverside recording?
Yes. In Riverside's editor, click Export, then Download, and download the video as an MP4. Upload it to Clyper, or paste the episode's YouTube link if it's published there.
Does Riverside have its own clip maker?
Yes, Magic Clips, on all plans. It makes clips automatically for recordings longer than 3 minutes with a transcript, usually 2 for every 5 minutes, 30 to 90 seconds each, with captions and a score.
Can Clyper connect to my Riverside account?
No. Clyper takes YouTube links and uploaded files, with no app connections. Export the episode from Riverside and upload it.
Should I upload the edit or the separate tracks?
The edit, for a show with guests: it has everyone in one file, and Clyper switches between them. For a solo show, your own raw video track is the sharpest, but it uses your plan's download hours.
What if my Riverside export is over 4 GB?
Clyper takes files up to 4 GB and 4 hours. Export at 1080p instead of 4K, or cut the file into parts with the free video splitter, which copies them without re-encoding, and upload each.
Can I upload Riverside's audio-only export?
No. Clyper works from video, not WAV or MP3 files. For an audio-only show, the free audiogram maker turns a moment into a video with your cover, a waveform and captions.
