Already on YouTube? Paste the link instead.
How to download a StreamYard recording
StreamYard records live streams on Core and higher plans, and only the account's Owners and Admins can download them; guests can't. Free and Essential don't record live streams, and Free can't download anything, so if you streamed to YouTube on one of those, use that link (step 5).
- 1Before the show, set the studio to 1080p: Settings, then General, then Broadcast quality (on paid plans). From Core up, live streams are recorded automatically.
- 2After the show, open your Library from the menu on the left and click the recording.
- 3Click Download in the upper right corner and choose the cloud video: the show as it went out, with everyone on stage and your banners and logo. It's an MP4 (H.264, 30 fps) at 1280 × 720 or 1920 × 1080, whichever you streamed in. Recordings download one at a time.
- 4Turned on local recordings before the show? Each person's own file is under the player: Download all, or Download next to one. Each is one person's clean camera, with no banners or logo, up to 4K on Advanced, Teams and Business if you pick 4K in the studio: the sharpest file for a solo show. For a show with guests, upload the cloud video.
- 5Streamed to YouTube? Once the stream has ended and YouTube has saved it, paste its link into Clyper instead, with nothing to download.
- 6Otherwise, upload the MP4 to Clyper.
StreamYard keeps recordings until you delete them (on Free, for 12 months), within your plan's storage: 5 hours on Free, 50 on Core and Advanced, 700+ on Business. Once it's full, new streams aren't recorded in StreamYard, and if you've turned on automatic deletion, the oldest recordings go. Core and Advanced record up to 10 hours of a stream (24 on Business). Moving to Free? Download first: recordings go when the paid term ends.
How it works
- 1
Add the show
Upload the MP4 from your StreamYard library, or paste the YouTube link of a stream that's ended.
- 2
Get the clips
Clyper finds the answers, stories and takes that stand on their own, frames the speaker and captions it.
- 3
Post them
Check each clip in the editor, then download 1080 × 1920 MP4s with no watermark for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
What you get
- Follows whoever's talkingIn side-by-side and group layouts, it crops to the person speaking and cuts to the next when they answer.
- Slides with a speakerWhen the speaker is a small, steady box in a corner over a shared screen, it can stack them over the middle of the screen.
- Whole sentencesEvery clip is 20 to 60 seconds and starts and ends on a full sentence.
- Captions in 50+ languagesEvery word, in the show's language, placed clear of TikTok's, Reels' and Shorts' buttons.
- Scored for the hookEach clip gets a hook score, so you post the strongest first.
- No watermarkClean 9:16 MP4s you download and post anywhere.

StreamYard's AI clips, and when Clyper fits better
StreamYard has its own AI clips: open a recording in your library and click Generate clips, and it makes vertical, captioned clips with titles, reframed on whoever is speaking. Say “Clip that” on air and it takes the 30 seconds before as one of the moments to clip. It takes recordings up to 6 hours, lists 15 languages, can publish straight to connected Shorts and Reels accounts, and has monthly clip limits by plan: 2 on Free, 6 on Core, 25 on Advanced, unlimited on Business. If that covers your show, use it.
Clyper is the better fit when:
- you want a set number of clips from every show: you choose, up to 30 from an hour;
- the show went out on YouTube from the Free or Essential plan, which don't record live streams: paste the YouTube link;
- the show is in a language AI clips doesn't list: Clyper captions in 50+;
- you clip shows for clients, from their YouTube links or files, without their StreamYard login.
Studio layouts that clip well
- Big faces crop best. The Single and Spotlight layouts make one speaker big. Cropped (a 50/50 split) and Group work too, since Clyper picks whoever's talking, but with many people on stage each tile is small and the clip looks soft.
- Banners and the logo are in the recording. A vertical crop keeps about a third of the frame's width, so a full-width banner loses its ends and a corner logo usually drops out. Keep banner text short and central.
- Screen shares: one with no face on it is cropped to its middle, so use big text in the middle of each slide.
Before you post: guests, viewers and permission
Ask guests before you post their clips, and send them theirs: their audience is the easiest one to win. If you put viewers' comments on screen, their names and words are in the clip too. Clip other people's shows only with their permission.

What it costs
A credit is a minute of video, so a plan is how much video you can clip in a month, however many clips it makes. A 90-minute show uses 90 credits and can give up to 30 clips.
