How to download Kick VODs before they're deleted

To download a Kick VOD of your own stream, open your Creator dashboard, go to Studio, then VODs, and click the download icon next to the stream (not the red delete button beside it). Here's how to download Kick VODs step by step, whose VODs you can download, how long Kick keeps them, what to do when there's no button, and how to turn the file into clips.

In short

  • To download your Kick VOD: Creator dashboard, Studio, VODs, then the download icon next to the stream. Kick added it in late September 2026. The red delete button sits right beside it.
  • It's for your own channel. Viewers can't download a whole VOD from the player, only clips of up to 3 minutes. Kick hasn't said what format the file is, whether its app has the button, or whether moderators get it.
  • Kick keeps VODs 7 days, or 30 on verified channels, and a channel holds at most 16 (30 if verified). Once one's deleted, Kick can't bring it back.
  • No button? The VOD may still be processing, split into parts, expired, or not your channel's. Kick's help article still points to third-party downloaders; we don't recommend them.
  • Then clip it: upload the file to Clyper (up to 4 GB), or put it in Google Drive or Dropbox and paste the link (up to 10 GB). Clyper stacks the webcam over the game, captions every word and scores each clip's hook.

How to download a Kick VOD

Kick saves each stream as a VOD on its own, and since late September 2026 it lets streamers download their own VODs straight from Kick. Its announcement on X showed the steps in three pictures. To download a Kick VOD:

  1. Give the VOD time to appear. Kick says processing takes 15 to 30 minutes for a shorter stream and up to an hour for a long one.
  2. Open your Creator dashboard. Signed in on kick.com, it's in your account menu, with Subscriptions, Drops & rewards and Collectibles.
  3. Go to Studio, then VODs. Studio holds your VODs and your Clips. Each VOD shows its title, category, visibility, views and date.
  4. Click the download icon next to the stream you want. It sits right beside the red delete button, so check which one you're pressing: deleting a VOD is permanent.
  5. Check the file plays to the end before the VOD expires on Kick.

What format is the download? Kick hasn't said. Its post shows where the button is and nothing about the file: format, quality or size. Its clips download as MP4 files, its help center says, but that's the clip tool, not the VOD download. Expect a big file: Kick takes streams at up to 8,000 kbps, and if the download keeps that rate, an hour is about 3.6 GB, so a four-hour stream is about 14 GB. Make sure the drive has room.

On a phone? Kick's post doesn't say whether the button is in the Kick app. A computer is the better place for it anyway: the file is gigabytes, and it's where you'll split, convert or upload it.

Kick also notes that a growing channel's streams and VODs may not play in 1080p until it reaches an engagement threshold. It hasn't said whether the download follows the same rule, so if quality matters, keep your own recording too (more below).

Can you download someone else's Kick VOD?

Not with Kick's button. The download is in the streamer's own Creator dashboard, so it covers their channel only, and the VOD player on a channel page has no download. Kick hasn't said whether moderators get the button (for pinning VODs, a similar Studio feature, its help center says only the channel owner can, and moderators can't).

What viewers can download is clips. Any logged-in viewer can clip 10 seconds to 3 minutes of a live stream or a VOD, with the Clip icon or the C key, and download it as an MP4. There's a 60-second wait between clips, and no clipping a chat you're banned from. How to use it well is in how to clip Kick streams.

Sites and browser extensions that download other channels' VODs aren't part of Kick, and we don't recommend any. Kick's terms of service (last updated March 23, 2026) bar “accessing any content on the Service through any technology or means other than those provided or authorized” and bypassing the measures Kick uses to restrict access. If you clip for a Kick streamer, there are ways in with their permission:

  • Ask for the file, as a link. The streamer downloads the VOD from their dashboard and shares it from Google Drive or Dropbox. Clyper takes that link as it is, so the file never has to touch your computer.
  • Use the campaign's footage. Some campaigns for Kick streamers share whole streams with their clippers, and the brief says what you may clip. See Kick clipping program for how Kick streamers pay clippers.
  • Clip the moment on Kick. For a single moment, Kick's own clip download is open to everyone.

Posting clips of someone else's stream is a separate question from downloading it: see how to get permission to clip and is clipping legal? (it explains the issues; it isn't legal advice).

How long Kick keeps VODs

Kick deletes VODs on its own after a while, and how long depends on whether your channel is verified:

How long Kick keeps VODs, and how many, as its help center lists them
Verified channelsOther channels
VODs stay up30 days after the stream7 days after the stream
VODs a channel holds at once3016
Pinned VODs, kept for goodUp to 5 (Partner and Verified channels)Not available

Kick's help center is plain about it: once a VOD is deleted at the end of its retention period, Kick can't recover it, and it suggests downloading the VODs you want to keep before then. Pinning keeps up to 5 on the channel for good, but only one that hasn't expired yet, from the channel page or Creator dashboard, Studio, VODs.

Deleting a VOD yourself has a cost too: Kick says it takes that stream's time off your channel's statistics. So download, and leave the VOD up, unless you mean to remove it.

No download button? What to check

If you can't find the VOD or its download icon in Studio, work down this list:

  • It's still processing. Give it 15 to 30 minutes, or up to an hour after a long stream, then refresh. Kick also suggests logging out and back in, or trying another browser.
  • It was split. If your stream dropped and reconnected, Kick may have saved it as several VODs. Look for others from the same date, and download each.
  • It didn't save. Kick says a stream may not save if it hit a technical problem in processing, or ended very soon after it started. If you think it should be there, contact Kick's support with your username, the stream's date and times, its length, your encoder and what's wrong.
  • It expired. Past 7 days (30 if verified), or over the 16-VOD limit (30 if verified), it's gone, and Kick can't bring it back.
  • It isn't your channel. The button is only in a streamer's own dashboard. Ask the streamer for the file.
  • You're in the app. Kick hasn't said the app has the download. Try the Creator dashboard in a browser on a computer.

One more thing you may run into: Kick's help article on downloading VODs, updated again on October 27, 2026, still doesn't mention the dashboard button. It points to third-party downloader sites and a way to dig the stream's playlist out of the browser's developer tools. For your own VODs you don't need either, and we don't recommend them: if the button is missing for a VOD that's still up, ask Kick's support, and record your next streams yourself.

Turn a Kick VOD into clips

A VOD is hours of stream, and a few minutes of it are worth posting where new viewers are: TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Clyper doesn't take kick.com links, so bring it the file one of two ways:

  • Upload it. MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, up to 4 GB. At Kick's top bitrate, that's about 66 minutes of stream, so a longer VOD may be over it.
  • Paste a Google Drive or Dropbox link. Put the VOD in Drive or Dropbox, share it so anyone with the link can view it, and paste the file's link (not a folder's) into Clyper. Files up to 10 GB work, about 2 hours 46 minutes of stream at Kick's top bitrate, and it's how a streamer can hand a VOD to the clipper who works for them.

Clyper clips from 1 minute to 4 hours of a video at a time: on a longer stream, pick the part to clip (From and To), and come back for the next part. If the file is a kind Clyper doesn't take, convert it with the free MP4 converter; if it's too big for both, the free video splitter cuts it into 2 to 20 parts in your browser, copying them without re-encoding.

Here's what Clyper makes of a stream:

  • The moments, found for you. It reads the whole stream's transcript and picks the moments that stand on their own: reactions, stories, arguments, answers to the chat. Each is cut on whole sentences, 20 to 60 seconds long. You choose how many clips you want, up to 30 from one video.
  • The webcam over the game. Where your webcam is on screen, Clyper finds it and gives it the top 1080 × 608 of the frame, with the game in the 1312 pixels below. On IRL and just chatting streams, with no game on screen, it frames you and follows you as you move.
  • Every word captioned, word by word in the stream's language: on the seam between the webcam and the game when they're stacked, and always above the apps' usernames and captions.
  • A hook score on every clip, so you post the strongest first. Check each clip in the editor, then download 1080 × 1920 MP4s with no watermark.

Clyper finds moments by what's said, so a play you made in silence won't be picked. For those, use Kick's clip button, and stack the webcam over the game with the free split screen video maker. More on the layout in stream clips with Clyper, and on Kick in particular in Kick VODs to clips.

What a Kick VOD costs to clip

Clyper charges by the length of the video, not the number of clips: 1 credit for each minute of stream, at least 10 a video, however many clips you ask for. You can ask for up to one clip for every 2 minutes, and up to 30 from one video:

What a Kick VOD uses in credits, and the most clips it can give
StreamCreditsMost clips
1 hour6030
2 hours12030
3 hours18030
4 hours24030

And here's how much stream a month of each plan's credits covers:

How many hours of stream each plan's monthly credits cover
PlanCredits a monthStream it coversPrice
Starter1502 hours 30 minutes$20 a month
Pro4006 hours 40 minutes$38 a month, or $19 a month billed yearly
Studio1,00016 hours 40 minutes$96 a month, or $48 a month billed yearly

Credits go by minutes of stream, so pick a plan by the hours of VOD you clip in a month. Compare them on Clyper's plans, and work out what clips can earn you in the free clipping earnings calculator.

Clipping Kick streams for growth or for pay

Streamers clip their own VODs to be found off Kick: clips on TikTok, Shorts and Reels bring people to the next stream. How that fits with the rest of growing a channel is in how to grow on Kick.

Clippers are paid by campaigns for Kick streamers' clips, by the views their clips get, and work from the footage the campaign allows. Who runs them is in Kick clipping program, which streamers and creators pay clippers is on clipping programs, and what campaigns pay per 1,000 views is in clipping pay rates. Questions

How do I download my Kick VODs?

Open your Creator dashboard on kick.com, go to Studio, then VODs, and click the download icon next to the stream. It's right beside the red delete button, so check which one you press. Kick added the download in late September 2026.

Can I download Kick VODs on my phone?

Kick hasn't said whether the download is in its app. Its announcement shows the Creator dashboard (Studio, then VODs), so use that in a browser, ideally on a computer: a whole stream is a big file.

Can you download someone else's Kick VOD?

Not with Kick's button: it's in the streamer's own Creator dashboard, so it covers their channel only. Viewers can download clips of up to 3 minutes. To clip a whole stream for someone, ask them for the file, shared from Google Drive or Dropbox.

What format are Kick VOD downloads?

Kick hasn't said. Its clips download as MP4 files, but its post about VOD downloads gives no format or quality. Clyper takes MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV; convert anything else with a free MP4 converter first.

How long do Kick VODs stay up?

7 days, or 30 on verified channels, and a channel holds at most 16 VODs at a time (30 if verified). Partner and Verified channels can pin up to 5 before they expire, to keep them for good. Kick can't recover a VOD once it's deleted.

Why is there no download button on my Kick VOD?

It may still be processing (15 to 30 minutes, or up to an hour for a long stream), split into several VODs after a reconnect, expired, or not your channel's. Kick hasn't said its app has the button, so try the Creator dashboard in a browser, and contact Kick's support if a VOD that's still up has none.

Can Clyper clip a Kick VOD link?

Not a kick.com link. Download the VOD and upload it (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, up to 4 GB), or put it in Google Drive or Dropbox and paste the file's link (up to 10 GB). Clyper finds the best moments, puts the webcam over the game and captions every word.
