Dan Reyes, Lowkey Media · 9 clientsHow Karaoke moves
The whole caption goes up at once, in white capitals with a black outline, and a yellow fill sweeps through each word over the time it takes to say it. A slow word fills slowly, a quick one in a flash, so the fill follows the rhythm of the voice. These are often called karaoke captions.
In scripts written right to left, like Arabic and Hebrew, a sweep would run backwards through the word, so each word fills all at once as it's said instead. See it on the Arabic captions page.
When to use Karaoke
- Stories and slower talk, where seeing the whole line helps people follow, and the fill keeps the pace.
- Motivational and spoken-word clips, where the rhythm of the voice is half the point.
- A change from Pop on an account that posts a lot, so clips don't all look the same.

Make Karaoke your own
On Pro and Studio, save up to 10 caption styles of your own: start from any of the 5, then choose the font (Poppins, Montserrat, Anton, Bebas Neue, Archivo Black or Bangers), the colors, the size and how high the captions sit. They show beside the built-in styles when you start a video or edit a clip.
Your styles carry your font into every language with letters it has; for other scripts, the captions fall back to the matching Noto Sans font, so nothing turns into empty boxes.

Questions
What's the difference between Karaoke and Pop?
Pop lights up the spoken word in blue with a small pop. Karaoke fills the words with yellow over the time each one is said, like a sing-along, with the whole line on screen.
Which plans include Karaoke?
Pro and Studio, with the other styles and styles of your own. Starter clips use Pop.
Does Karaoke work in every language?
Yes. Karaoke captions every language Clyper does, 50+ of them, each in a font made for its script, from Spanish to Japanese to Arabic.
Can I switch a clip to another style?
Yes, in the clip editor, with the preview showing the change before you download. On Starter, clips use Pop; Pro and Studio can switch between all 5.
Are the captions burned into the video?
Yes. They're part of the clip, so they show on every app exactly as you chose them, with nothing to upload separately.
