What is a brand kit for videos?
Also called Video brand kitUpdated
From Clyper, the AI clipping tool that turns long videos into captioned vertical clips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
Get startedBrand kit, defined
A brand kit for video is a saved set of the fonts, colors, caption styles and text placement a channel or client uses, so every video comes out looking the same without setting it up each time. On short clips, it's mostly the captions and the hook text, the parts of a clip people see first.
What's in a video brand kit
In a design app, a brand kit holds logos, fonts and a palette. In a video tool, it holds the settings you'd otherwise set by hand on every video:
- A font for captions and titles, heavy enough to read on a phone at arm's length.
- Colors: the text, its outline, and one accent for the word being said.
- A caption style: how the words move, from a few at a time with a pop to a karaoke fill or one big word at a time.
- Size and placement: how big the captions are and how high they sit, clear of the apps' buttons (the safe zone).
- The hook text: the box and colors of the text hook a clip opens with.
- A logo or handle, if the channel uses one, in a corner.
On a clip, captions are on screen almost the whole time, so they carry the brand more than any logo does. Someone who sees the same font and colors on three clips starts to know the account before they read its name, and a client gets clips that already look like theirs.
How Clyper's brand kit works
Clyper's brand kit comes with Pro and Studio. Each style you save starts from one of its 5 built-in styles and changes the rest:
| Setting | What you choose |
|---|---|
| Starting style | Pop, Karaoke, Highlight, One word or Plain: how the words animate and how many show at once |
| Font | Poppins, Montserrat, Anton, Bebas Neue, Archivo Black or Bangers, sized so its capitals come out as tall as Poppins' would |
| Colors | The text, the outline (or Plain's band), the accent (the spoken word, the karaoke fill or the highlight) and the headline's box, whose text turns black or white, whichever reads |
| Size | 70% to 130% of the built-in style's |
| Height | The caption line sits anywhere from about 45% to 73% of the way down the frame, clear of the headline and the apps' buttons |
| Capitals | All capitals, or as spoken |
Your styles sit beside the built-in ones when you start a video or edit a clip, and Clyper remembers the one you used last. A clip keeps its look even if you change or delete the style later. Starter clips use Pop, the default style.
It's a caption kit, not a logo kit: Clyper doesn't add logos, intros or outros. To put your @handle or a logo on a clip, use the free add watermark to video tool after you download it. Every built-in style is shown in motion on animated captions.
One style per client: brand kits for agencies and clip accounts
A clipping agency posts for several creators, and each wants clips that look like theirs. With room for 10 styles, you can keep one per client, named after them, and choose it when you start that client's video: the font, colors and placement are right on every clip, and nobody restyles 30 clips one by one. More in Clyper for clipping agencies.
Clippers running several accounts do the opposite: a different style for each account, so each looks like a channel of its own. And if a campaign brief asks for a particular caption look, save it as a style before you start, so you don't have to remember it clip by clip.
Questions
What should a video brand kit include?
At least a font, two or three colors and a caption style, with where the captions sit on screen. For short clips, add the look of the hook text that opens each one. A logo or handle is optional: on a clip, the captions are what viewers see most.
Does Clyper have a brand kit?
Yes, on Pro and Studio: up to 10 caption styles of your own, each with your font, colors, size, height and capitals, built on any of the 5 built-in styles. Starter clips use Pop, the default style.
Can I upload my own font to Clyper?
No. Each brand kit style is set in one of these fonts: Poppins, Montserrat, Anton, Bebas Neue, Archivo Black or Bangers.
Can Clyper add my logo to clips?
No: Clyper's brand kit covers the captions and the hook headline, not logos. Add a logo or your @handle to a downloaded clip with the free add watermark to video tool.
