Eklipse alternatives, compared

Eklipse is built for streamers: connect your channel and it clips the highlights of each stream for you, tuned to gameplay. If you clip podcasts, interviews or other creators' YouTube videos, or you want a cheaper plan month to month, here are the twelve tools people weigh instead, with prices from their own sites. We make the first one on the list.

Why people switch from Eklipse

Eklipse's FAQ says it's optimized for gaming: it finds highlights in kills, wins and achievements, audio spikes like laughter, and bursts of chat. It clips podcasts, talk shows and IRL streams too. But if most of what you clip is people talking, you want a tool that picks moments from what's said and keeps whoever's talking in frame.

Then the way in. It clips the streams of a channel you connect, or files you upload, which its help center says have to be MP4s, and setting how many clips you get and how long, for each game, is a Premium Pro feature. Month to month, Premium is $24.99. Billed yearly it's $14.99 a month, less than any Clyper plan, so the yearly price is rarely the reason to leave.

Our pick: an AI clipping tool built for clippers

Clyper

Yes, we make it, so of course it's first. We'd put it there anyway, for anyone clipping more than their own gaming streams: it picks moments from what's said, cuts each on whole sentences, frames whoever's talking and puts a stream's webcam over the game. Paste a YouTube link up to 4 hours long, or upload a replay, from $20 a month.

Best for

  • Podcasts, interviews and streams with commentary: moments picked from what's said, cut to whole sentences, framed on whoever's talking.
  • Any public or unlisted YouTube link, with 10 at once on Studio, and uploads in MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV up to 4 GB.
  • A cheaper start month to month: Starter is $20, against $24.99 for Eklipse Premium.

Good to know

  • Billed yearly, Eklipse costs less: Premium is $14.99 a month, against $19 for Clyper Pro.
  • No Twitch or Kick links and no channel to connect: download the replay and upload the file. And no posting: the clips download as MP4s.
  • It finds moments in what's said, so a big play with no one talking won't be picked.

Stream clipping tool

StreamLadder

Best for

  • Streamers clipping their own Twitch and Kick VODs: paste the VOD link, with unlimited AI clipping on Creator ($27 a month, $22.50 billed yearly).
  • A full clip editor with stickers, emotes and effects, posting and scheduling, a free plan for the editor and a 7-day trial.

Falls short on

  • Its AI clipping doesn't take YouTube links: its help center says YouTube VODs aren't supported, so you upload the file.
  • AI clipping starts with Creator; the free plan and Starter are the editor without it.

AI clipping tool

Spikes Studio

Best for

  • A low yearly price: $0.0470 a minute on its PRO+ plan billed yearly.
  • B-roll, music, transitions and scheduling to TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook and more, with a free plan to start.

Falls short on

  • Its free plan is demo clips (its FAQ says up to 30 minutes of video a month) at 720p with a watermark, and face tracking, auto reframe and animated captions start with PRO+.
  • Month to month, PRO+ costs $0.1100 a minute, against $0.0950 on Clyper Pro.

AI clipping tool

OpusClip

Best for

  • Creators clipping their own channel, with B-roll, brand templates, filler-word removal and scheduling in one app.
  • Long videos, up to 10 hours, and links from Zoom, Vimeo, Twitch, Kick and more, with a free plan to try it.

Falls short on

  • Before it clips a YouTube link, it asks you to confirm the channel is yours, so other creators' videos have to come in some other way.
  • Billed yearly, Pro comes to $0.0483 a minute, against $0.0475 on Clyper Pro.

Online video editor with an AI clip maker

Kapwing

Best for

  • A full editor in the browser that also makes clips: prompt its clip maker for topics, longer or shorter clips and other shapes, then add subtitles, B-roll, dubbing and your brand kit.

Falls short on

  • Its links are limited to 120 minutes; for a longer video, you download it and upload the file.
  • Its credits also pay for subtitles, dubbing and its other AI tools, and its pages list no score for each clip.

How to choose

  1. Whose videos you clip. If it's other creators' YouTube videos, for campaigns, you need a tool that takes any public link. That narrows it fast.
  2. How much you'll clip. Work out the hours of video a month, then compare the price per minute, not the price per plan.
  3. How much you want to edit. Clips ready to post, or an editor to finish them in. Every step you add, you repeat on every clip.
  4. Try it on a real video. Use a free plan where there is one, or a month of the smallest plan, on the kind of video you'll actually clip.

Every tool, side by side: the best AI clipping tools, compared. Clipping more than you can watch? Studio takes 10 links at once.

Questions

What is the best Eklipse alternative?

For clipping podcasts, interviews and other creators' YouTube videos, Clyper: it picks moments from what's said, cuts them to whole sentences, frames whoever's talking and starts at $20 a month. For your own Twitch or Kick streams by link, StreamLadder takes VOD links, and OpusClip lists Twitch and Kick links too.

Is there a free alternative to Eklipse?

StreamLadder has a free clip editor (with a 7-day trial of its AI clipping); Spikes Studio has a free plan (demo clips, and up to 30 minutes of video a month by its FAQ, at 720p with a watermark); OpusClip has a free plan (60 minutes a month, with a watermark, and clips that can't be exported after 3 days); 2short.ai has a free plan (30 minutes a month); Vizard has a free plan (60 minutes a month at 720p, with a watermark); Klap has one video free to try; quso.ai has a free plan in some countries (75 minutes a month at 720p, with a watermark); Kapwing has a free plan (10 credits in all, 5 minutes in its clip maker, at 720p with a watermark); Submagic has a free trial (3 short videos, with a watermark); CapCut has a free editor (if you cut each clip by hand); Descript has a free plan (1 hour of media at 720p, with a watermark). Clyper has no free plan; Starter is $20 month to month, so a month is enough to try it on your own videos.

Which Eklipse alternative is cheapest?

Of the tools that charge by the minute, 2short.ai costs least: $0.0166 on Premium and $0.0221 on Pro, month to month. To start, Clyper Starter is $20 a month for 150 minutes, up to 75 clips. Like Eklipse, StreamLadder sells a subscription: its Creator plan has unlimited AI clipping of Twitch and Kick VODs for $27 a month, or $22.50 billed yearly, against $24.99 or $14.99 for Eklipse Premium. Kapwing sells AI credits instead: its clip maker takes 2 a minute of video, so Pro comes to $0.0320 a minute billed yearly ($0.0480 month to month) and Business to $0.0250, if the credits go to nothing else. Descript's media hours come to less, $0.0133 a minute on its yearly Creator plan, but they're hours in its editor, for files you upload rather than links, and its AI features use AI credits on top.

Why do people look for Eklipse alternatives?

Mostly the kind of video: its FAQ says it's optimized for gaming, finding highlights in kills, wins, audio spikes and chat, and podcasts and interviews need moments picked from what's said. Then the way in, a connected channel or MP4 uploads, and the month-to-month price.

Does Clyper take Twitch or Kick links?

No. It takes YouTube links and uploads: download the replay and upload the file (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, up to 4 GB and 4 hours). Clyper finds the webcam and stacks it over the game by itself. It finds moments in what's said, so it suits streams with commentary.

Which Eklipse alternatives take YouTube links?

Clyper, Vizard, Klap, Spikes Studio, 2short.ai and quso.ai take YouTube links. Submagic does with its Magic Clips add-on. OpusClip does once you confirm the YouTube channel is yours. Kapwing does for videos up to 2 hours. StreamLadder's AI clipping takes Twitch and Kick links, and YouTube videos as uploaded files. CapCut and Descript work from uploaded files.
